Iyengar Yoga

This class is taught by:

Michele Bohbot

I want to share my love and passion for Yoga with people. It changed my life over 30 years ago and helped me transform into the best me I could be. As a certified Iyengar teacher, I have developed a dialog between my body and my mind through the instruction of the alignment of one’s body. I realized that the physical body is constantly speaking to us and that we often don’t take time to listen to it because we are so busy with our daily lives and distractions. The improved focus through yoga has a direct effect on meditation and health. I want to share this passion with my students to inspire and guide them through their own self- inquiry and journey through a regular and consistent practice.
Supple body, supple mind ……. Healthy body, happy mind.

JB Herndon

When I started, I could never imagine myself doing yoga. I was stiff, clumsy and disdained all physical activity. Somehow I kept coming back for the mental effects, the lightness and space that opened up through practice. Eventually the physical came around. Since 2007, I have practiced daily and have been teaching in NYC and Boston since 2013. I am a student of Patricia Walden and Carrie Owerko. Before moving to Los Angeles, I spent a year studying in-depth with Patricia Walden and assisting her weekly classes. I have also traveled to Pune, India to study with the Iyengar family. The most important thing we learn in yoga is observation, and in Iyengar yoga, alignment is the way to deepen the power of observation and become more fully embodied. I am a certified Iyengar Yoga Intro II Teacher.

Becky Patel

I graduated from the 3-year Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program of Southern California and am certified at the Introductory II level. I had the great privilege of studying with Geeta Iyengar in Pune for a two-week intensive in 2014 and regularly study with many of the senior teachers including Manouso Manos and Gloria Goldberg. In my day job I am a Textile Designer and spend most of the day sitting in front of a computer. Yoga helps me combat the Ill-effects of a computer job and gives me relief from stress and fatigue. I truly believe it makes you a better person inside and out. I have a relaxed, approachable teaching style and strive to challenge students while creating a safe and welcoming environment.
A basic practice specifically designed for beginners with an emphasis on learning the fundamentals of yoga at a slower pace, step-by-step. We recommend Beginning 1 to most new students as the best way to safely establish a familiarity with the poses before continuing on.
