When I took my first yoga class, I had no idea what I was doing and how deeply it would transform my life. Starting with vinyasa, and yin, my quest for deeper knowledge of the subject of yoga naturally led me to the practice and teachings of BKS Iyengar. The depth, intelligence, and directness of the Iyengar system make transformation possible for everyone. I have been a certified RYT since 2008 and became a certified Iyengar Introductory level I/II yoga teacher in 2015.
Affi initially started her yoga practice in the Iyengar tradition in 1998 in Honolulu. Upon moving back to Los Angeles, she continued to study with Chris Stein and Eric Small among others, as well as travelling to Pune twice to study with the Iyengar family.
She continues her studies under the tutelage of her senior teacher Mahyar Raz, an Advanced Junior II teacher; who heads the Toronto studio.
Her travels, the influence of a diverse group of teachers as well as the changes in her own practice in the last 20 years, has given her a sensibility to adjust her teaching to her students’ needs while still keeping her class progressive and informative. Making each class a mindful journey of inner exploration and a discovery of abilities and strengths not limitations. This is the beauty of Iyengar yoga; the fact that it is accessible to all ages.
Affi is an Introductory II certified Iyengar teacher.
I began organizing my days around yoga practice after my very first Iyengar class eighteen years ago. My thoughts on how to approach asana and pranayama have deepened since the subjects were fresh and new: living with injuries and inherited conditions, I realized my attitude towards myself before, during and after practicing needed to change. Yoga Sutra 1.33 sheds light on how these changes might be cultivated and incorporated.
I have had opportunity to study with the Iyengar family many times in India, China and the U.S. Her other teachers, to whom I am deeply grateful, include Paul Cabanis, Karin O’Bannon, Kofi Busia, Faeq Biria and Manouso Manos.
I am a Junior Intermediate III certified Iyengar teacher.
Anna Delury is one of Southern California’s Senior Iyengar Yoga teachers and a founder of IYILA. She has traveled regularly to Pune to study with the Iyengar family since 1982. In 1988 she received a BSc. in Kinesiology from UCLA. Known for her insight and wry sense of humor, Anna brings a practical application of yoga philosophy into each class, as she helps guide students to a deeper understanding and awareness of what lies within each of them.

Seeker. Explorer. Intermediate Senior III Iyengar Yoga teacher.
Fundamentals through advanced. Challenging, informative, fun.

As a direct student of the late BKS Iyengar and daughter Geeta, I polish my studies in Pune, India annually since 2000. I am also grateful to have assisted in medical classes under their tutelage. I believe the discipline of practice, especially sequencing of learning, is key to freedom and enhancing one’s potential … having some fun along the way is also vital!
In addition to regular classes, I offer workshops for other persons with MS and neurological challenges.I teach in LA and worldwide. Private instruction available.

I became a certified Iyengar teacher in 1995. I had the immense privilege of being personally instructed on several occasions by B.K.S. Iyengar, most intensively during the photo shoot for the book, “Iyengar Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health.” I love the versatility of yoga; it can be used to alleviate suffering on a physical level, but is also the most sophisticated tool for self discovery on psychological and spiritual levels as well. There is much joy to be found in the persistent practice of this transformative and noble healing art, science, and philosophy!
I was first introduced to yoga at age 12, and practiced Martial arts and Yoga throughout my teens. When I moved to LA in 1996, I discovered Iyengar yoga and was drawn to its integrity and intelligent sequencing. It helped me heal my chronic ankle injury and taught me how to deal with my mild scoliosis. In 2001, I went to Pune, India and spent a month studying with the Iyengar family. A few years later I became a certified Iyengar teacher and have been teaching professionally and full time since 2006.
For me yoga is a way to connect to my true self, and I try to live by its principles. I love sharing it with new students, and try to challenge my students to leave their comfort zone and learn the poses in a progressive manner, step by step.
I believe in heat and just like B.K.I says, there is no magic pill to master anything. It has to be earned with sweat so get ready for a heated, fun Hatha flow with challenging sequence, lots of prop use, and restoratives at the end
Yoga has been the balance and center of strength providing the daily shift of my rajastic state of mind into a more sattvic place, connecting the body and mind…. the goal of yoga.
I love the endless joy of learning and listening to my body and watching daily how it changes, moving away from thought and the chitta vrittis (fluctuations of the mind), seeing the future created out of the present, living moment to moment… breath to breath.
I want to share my love and passion for Yoga with people. It changed my life over 30 years ago and helped me transform into the best me I could be. As a certified Iyengar teacher, I have developed a dialog between my body and my mind through the instruction of the alignment of one’s body. I realized that the physical body is constantly speaking to us and that we often don’t take time to listen to it because we are so busy with our daily lives and distractions. The improved focus through yoga has a direct effect on meditation and health. I want to share this passion with my students to inspire and guide them through their own self- inquiry and journey through a regular and consistent practice.
Supple body, supple mind ……. Healthy body, happy mind.

I began my practice of yoga in Ukraine in 1987.
I came to the US in 1996 and discovered Iyengar yoga while attending yoga classes at Govinda's yoga studio. Since then, yoga became my life and soul. I now hold an intermediate junior 1 Iyengar yoga certificate.
I bring to my classes a knowledge of connection between the body, mind and soul. I like to challenge my students to overcome theirs fears and limits. I blend philosophy and knowledge of the medical effect of asanas into the practice. I take special interest in studying Vedic scriptures and philosophy, as well as Ayurvedic and Reiki massage. Art and Design are others hobbies that I do in my spare time.
